Program description

Women obtain a basic knowledge of business and administration in order to achieve sustainable, self-managing, cooperative businesses. Micro-credit loans provide groups with the capital to initiate small business ventures.


Examples of workshops and resources provided include:

  • Market identification and research.
  • Wholesale and retail price calculations.
  • Group fund management and accounting.
  • Micro-credit loan program.

Fair trade store.

Our maya women's center & fair trade store, initiatd in December 2010, is located in an historical building in dowtown Panajachel.  The center houses a cooperative Fair trade store, resource library, community space for meetings and special events, and provides a departure point for tours to the women's communities.


Some fair trade products are:

  • Weavings.
  • Scarves.
  • Purses.
  • Jewelry.
  • Coffee.
  • Rugs.
  • Chocolate.

All products are handmade and naturally dyed
